Workshop Description
Presented in conjunction with the National Organization for Women, Orange County, this workshop will highlight how California Latinas for Reproductive Justice (CLRJ), one of many women of color organizations, organized to defeat three rounds of parental notification initiatives (PNI) from 2006 – 2008. CLRJ will share best practices and messaging strategies used to gain the support of mainstream Latina/o organizations, community members and broader communities against PNI’s! As reproductive health, rights and justice organizations gear up for ballot initiatives that challenge women’s right to make informed “choices,” CLRJ will also share timely report findings from Unearthing Latina/o Voices, highlighting Latina attitudes and beliefs regarding reproductive and sexual health issues, including abortion.
