Workshop Description
What happens when we combine a broadening contempt for scientific ideas with an environment in which corporate interests trump teacher and parent perspectives on children’s well-being? Dr. Huntley-Fenner will engage workshop participants in a lively debate/discussion about the past, present and future of public education in the United States. His presentation shall draw on phenomena such as the rise and fall of once-praised urban public schools in cities such as Detroit and New York and the experience in modern cities in transition such as Irvine.
